OPTIONS WEAVING STUDIO — In October 2012, Karen Pfeifer started a weaving program at OPTIONS, a local non-profit dedicated to helping people with intellectual and developmental disabilities live and work in the community. The OPTIONS Weaving Studio serves as an enrichment activity and a source of income for men and women with disabilities. Weaving artists create unique, inspired and amazing pieces while gaining a sense of purpose, self-esteem and joy.  Since the beginning, Karen has volunteered her time and talents for the participants and staff at OPTIONS.  Click here to learn more about the OPTIONS Weaving Studio.

MIDDENDORF’S MANCHAC RUN —  Hundreds of runners from far and wide competed in this annual race which was held every November from 2009-2018. The event featured 10 mile, 10K and 5K races that started and finished at Middendorf’s Manchac on Old Hwy 51. Runners and walkers received finisher medallions and were treated to a post-race catfish dinner. All proceeds benefited a local non-profit. 2018 marked the 10th and final year of the race. 648 people took part, and a record $33,000 was raised for Our Daily Bread Food Bank of Tangipahoa Parish. Over the 10 years of the race, a total of $127,000 was raised for charities in Tangipahoa Parish.
